Detailed Safari Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Entebbe
Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, meet a representative from Mahogany Travel Expeditions who will welcome you and provide a briefing about Uganda's agricultural sector and safari program. Transfer to your hotel for check-in and overnight.
Day 2: Entebbe – Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary – Murchison Falls National Park
After early breakfast, drive north to Uganda's largest national park. Stop at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for guided rhino tracking on foot with trained rangers—the only place in Uganda where white rhinos can be seen in the wild. After tracking, enjoy lunch and continue to Murchison Falls National Park, passing through green vegetation and local communities. Arrive and check into your lodge.
Day 3: Morning Game Drive and Afternoon Boat Safari on the Nile
Embark on an early morning sunrise game drive with packed breakfast. This drive offers opportunities to see elephants, lions, giraffes, buffaloes, and antelopes. Enjoy a sunrise bush breakfast with beautiful views of wildlife and sounds from the falls. Return to the lodge for hot lunch and afternoon relaxation.
Afternoon Boat Safari on the Nile: Enjoy a boat cruise along the Nile River where you can see hippos, crocodiles, water birds, and elephants along the riverbanks.
Day 4: Murchison Falls – Fort Portal
Travel to the beautiful crater lakes region near Fort Portal. Agricultural Stopovers: Visit roadside farms producing bananas, cassava, maize, and vegetables. Interact with farmers to learn about small-scale farming techniques.
Day 5: Tea Plantation Experience in Fort Portal
Visit the famous Kyaninga Tea Estate. Activities include walking through tea plantations, learning and participating in tea harvesting, visiting tea processing facilities, and participating in tea tasting sessions. Later, visit dairy farms to observe cattle management and milk processing.
Day 6: Chimpanzee Tracking – Kibale National Park
Early morning breakfast, then set off through the tropical rainforest to track chimpanzees in their natural habitat. The forest is also home to red colobus monkeys, L'Hoest monkeys, and over 300 bird species. Return to the lodge for dinner, evening relaxation, and overnight.
Day 7: Kibale – Queen Elizabeth National Park
Morning breakfast and drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park with agricultural stopovers. Visit Mubuku Irrigation Scheme farming projects including cassava farming, vegetable gardens, and other agricultural products. After the irrigation tour, continue to Queen Elizabeth National Park for check-in and overnight.
Day 8: Wildlife Safari in Queen Elizabeth National Park
Morning Game Drive: Early breakfast and set off for a game drive exploring the Kasenyi plains searching for lions, elephants, Uganda kobs, buffaloes, and over 600 bird species. Return to the lodge for lunch and afternoon relaxation.
Afternoon Boat Safari on Kazinga Channel: Cruise the channel connecting Lake George and Lake Edward with views of hippos, crocodiles, large elephant herds, and water birds. Return to the lodge for sunset relaxation, dinner, and overnight.
Day 9: Coffee Farming Experience
Visit rural communities near Queen Elizabeth National Park. Activities include walking through coffee farms, harvesting coffee beans with farmers, demonstration of coffee roasting and grinding, and coffee tasting experience.
Day 10: Queen Elizabeth – Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Early morning breakfast and drive through the Ishasha sector, famous for tree-climbing lions. Continue to Bwindi, home to nearly half of the world's remaining mountain gorillas.
Day 11: Gorilla Trekking Experience
Early breakfast and set off for one of the most unforgettable wildlife experiences in the world—Gorilla Trekking. With experienced park rangers, hike through dense rainforest searching for mountain gorillas. Once found, spend one magical hour observing the gorillas as they interact, feed, and care for their young. Return to the lodge for lunch and afternoon relaxation.
Day 12: Batwa Cultural & Agricultural Experience
After breakfast, visit the Batwa community, the original forest inhabitants. Interact with them to learn about traditional forest survival techniques, visit rural farms run by Batwa communities, and enjoy cultural dances and storytelling.
Day 13: Bwindi – Lake Mburo National Park – Mbarara (Ankole Cattle Farms)
Early morning breakfast and travel through Uganda's cattle corridor. Visit the Ankole Cattle Farm raising the famous Ankole long-horned cattle. Farmers demonstrate traditional cattle keeping, milk production, and dairy processing.
Day 14: Game Drive and Nature Walk – Lake Mburo National Park
Embark on an early morning game drive with packed breakfast in search of zebras, impalas, elands, and buffaloes. Enjoy a sunrise bush breakfast stop in the wild. Return to the lodge for lunch and afternoon relaxation. Later, enjoy a guided sunset nature walking safari to explore wildlife on foot.
Day 15: Transfer to Entebbe – Departure
Return to Entebbe International Airport for departure. Final opportunities for souvenir shopping and farewell to the Pearl of Africa.
